Moss Temple -- Part III -- Saiho-ji Temple

Through the gate to the upper level of the Moss Temple, Saiho-ji.  This had been a villa of Prince Shotoku until it was made into a Temple in 729-749.  It was restored in 1338.

Zazenseki. In the 1300's Muso Kokushi sat in zen meditation on this stone.

This might look like a jumble of rocks.  But consider the (dry) waterfall in the back (deep mountains) coming into the flat pond.  This was designed and built in the 1300's by the distinguished zen priest Muso Kokushi.
