Eikando Temple (Zenrinji Temple) -- an old friend

When we lived in Kyoto in 2013, we lived right down the street from this Temple.  In fall, tour busses parked along our street to visit the fall colors that Eikando is famous for.  We took a 2020 trip to see this old friend.  Its name comes from the priest Eikan who restored this temple during his lifetime from 1033 to 1111.  Then it was rebuilt again in 1497.  The garden is great for just looking out over.  For a while, the wa (harmony) was disturbed by a whole crew of gardeners, landscape architects, priests, and administrators.  It appeared that a plant needed to be moved over or removed....
